The aim of the study was to analyze the saturated fatty acid (SFA) and trans-fatty acid (TFA) contents of popular takeaway foods in the UK (including English, pizza, Chinese, Indian and kebab cuisine). Samples of meals were analyzed by an accredited public analyst laboratory for SFA and TFA. The meals were highly variable for SFA and TFA. English and Pizza meals had the highest median amount of SFA with 35.7?g/meal; Kebab meals were high in TFA with up to 5.2?g/meal. When compared to UK dietary reference values, some meals exceeded SFA and TFA recommendations from just one meal. Takeaway food would be an obvious target to reduce SFA and TFA contents and increase the potential of meeting UK recommendations. Strategies such as reformulation and smaller takeaway portion sizes warrant investigation.  相似文献

Burn wound infection often involves a diverse combination of bacterial and fungal pathogens. In this study, we characterize the mixed species burn wound infection by inoculating the burn surface with 1 × 103/4/5 CFU of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans in a 1:1:1 ratio. Using the revised Walker–Mason scald burn rat model, 168 male Sprague-Dawley rats (350–450 g) subject to ∼10% TBSA burn injury, with or without inoculation, were evaluated for 11 days after burn. In the wound, P. aeruginosa and S. aureus formed robust biofilms as determined by the bacterial tissue load, ∼1 × 109 CFU/g, and expression of key biofilm genes. Interestingly, within 3 days C. albicans achieved tissue loads of ∼1 × 106 CFU/g, but its numbers were significantly reduced beyond the limit of detection in the burn wound by day 7 in partial-thickness injuries and by day 11 in full-thickness injuries. The pathogenic biofilms contributed to burn depth progression, increased release of HMGB-1 into circulation from injured tissue, and significantly elevated the numbers of circulating innate immune cells (Neutrophils, Monocytes, and Basophils). This robust model of multi-species burn wound infection will serve as the basis for the development of new antimicrobials for combating biofilm-based wound infections.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to characterize the patterns of lingual split and lateral bone cut end (LBCE) after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) in patients and identify their associations with postoperative neurosensory disturbance. This retrospective cohort study recruited 273 patients with skeletal malocclusion who received BSSO. The postoperative cone beam computed tomography data were reconstructed to three-dimensionally view the patterns of lingual split and LBCE. Associations between lingual split and LBCE and their effects on neurosensory disturbance in the lower lip and chin were determined. Six types of lingual split and three types of LBCE were defined based on three-dimensional images. Type I lingual split as a vertical fracture line to the inferior mandibular border was the most common (40.29%). Inferior LBCE was the most prevalent, followed by lingual and buccal types. Significant associations among lingual split, LBCE and skeletal deformities were found (P < 0.05). However, patterns of lingual split and LBCE were not associated with the incidence of neurosensory disturbance. Patterns of lingual split after BSSO significantly associated with types of LBCE and dentomaxillofacial deformities, but not with postoperative neurosensory disturbance.  相似文献

Abstract

Autoantibodies to nuclear and cytoplasmic antigens are commonly detected by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) on HEp-2 cells, and three major staining patterns (nuclear, cytoplasmic, and mitotic) are distinguished. Here, we report an atypical cytoplasmic pattern, not described so far, observed in the serum of a patient with a controversial diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Moreover, for the first time, we have revealed the presence of autoantibodies against the microtubule-associated light-chain 3 (LC3) protein, which plays a key role in the autophagic process. The target antigen has been identified in IIF by means of a competition test using purified anti-LC3 antibodies on HEp-2 cells, and confirmed by Western blot analysis using cellular or recombinant LC3 as antigen, immunoreacted with the patient’s serum. The identification of this atypical pattern and the related autoantibody-antigen system sheds new light on autophagy, which is increasingly considered to be involved in the etiopathogenesis of autoimmune disorders, and could contribute to select more personalized therapies.  相似文献

目的探讨乙肝孕妇血清标志物模式、HBV-DNA载量及肝功能三者之间的关系,为孕期乙肝病毒感染情况的监控和乙肝病毒母婴传播的预防提供参考。方法选取2019年1月-11月在我院产检的767例乙肝表面抗原阳性孕妇的乙肝血清标志物模式、肝功能指标的丙氨酸氨基转移酶(alamine aminotransferase,ALT)及HBVDNA载量进行研究,探讨三者间的关系。结果HBsAg、HBeAg、HBcAb阳性组孕妇HBV-DNA阳性率及病毒载量均高于其余两组(P<0.05);ALT升高程度与HBV-DNA载量具有一定相关性(r=0.255,χ^2=80.150,P=0.000);HBeAg阳性组和HBeAg阴性组间HBV-DNA阳性率、ALT异常率差异均有统计学意义。结论HBV-M、HBV-DNA与肝功能之间有一定的相关性,大三阳孕妇中高病毒载量比例高,应加强乙肝孕妇孕期各项指标的监测,必要时进行干预治疗。  相似文献

To understand the influence of social relationships on cardiovascular responses to stress, the present study investigated perceived affectionate support as a mediating variable explaining the association between specific attachment bonds (i.e., mother, father, partner, best friend) and cardiovascular reactivity (CVR). Utilizing a standardized stress testing protocol, 138 young adults completed measures of attachment and social support, with continuous cardiovascular measurements obtained using the Finometer Pro hemodynamic monitor. Results showed that the association between anxious and avoidant attachment and reactivity were mediated by perceived affectionate support; insecure attachment was linked to lower levels of perceived social support, which in turn was associated with lower CVR. For anxious attachment, this was noted only for mothers (SBP: B = −0.94, 95% CI [−1.94, −0.20]; DBP: B = −0.57, [−1.27, −0.10]), fathers (SBP: B = −0.72, [−1.42, −0.17]; DBP: B = −0.48, [−1.01, −0.13]), and best friends (SBP: B = −0.64, [−1.23, −0.18]; DBP: B = −0.40, [−0.81, −0.12]). For avoidant attachment, it was evident only for fathers (SBP: B = −0.70, [−1.33, −0.17]; DBP: B = −0.48, [−0.92, −0.15]) and partners (SBP: B = −0.78, [−1.64, −0.09]; DBP: B = −0.53, [−1.10, −0.11]). These findings suggest that insecure attachment is associated with lower levels of reactivity, which have been linked to negative health outcomes such as poor self-reported health, depression, and obesity. Overall, this research expands on the support and relationship science literature by incorporating under-researched aspects of social relationships (i.e., specific attachment styles) and focusing on the mechanisms by which they are associated with physiological stress responses.  相似文献

BackgroundExisting analytical approaches used to measure free-living stepping cadence (steps per minute; spm) characterize stepping two-ways: 1) 60 s epochs without considering time spent stepping during the epoch (step accumulation; SA), or 2) a bout-based analysis that considers both number of steps and time spent stepping during stepping bouts (total event cadence; TEC). SA and TEC may incorrectly characterize cadence in epochs that do not consist of continuous stepping or if there are marked changes in cadence within a stepping bout, respectively.Research QuestionHow does a bout-based analytical method that examines each stepping bout individually and considers within-bout changes in stepping cadence during epochs ≥120 s (Bout Cadence; BC) compare to SA and TEC?MethodsActivPAL™-derived data from 122 participants were analyzed (790 total days). SA and TEC were calculated according to previous literature. BC calculated cadence bout-by-bout and stride-by-stride for bouts lasting <120 s and ≥120 s, respectively. Time spent stepping between 0–140 spm (divided into 20 spm bins) or >140 spm were determined for each method. Time spent in slow (0–80 spm), medium (80–120 spm) and fast (>120 spm) cadences for each method were compared via Bland-Altman analyses.ResultsAlmost half (43 %) of the total number of 60 s epochs included ≥2 stepping bouts, and 37 % of total stepping time was accumulated in continuous stepping bouts ≥120 s. Compared to TEC, BC identified more daily time spent in the 20–40 spm and >120 spm cadence bins, but less time spent in the 60−120 spm range. Both SA (fixed bias: -11.0 ± 12.4 min/day) and TEC (fixed bias: –10.0 ± 13.6 min/day) underestimated faster stepping cadences compared to BC.SignificanceExisting analytical approaches largely underestimate faster stepping cadences, resulting in inaccurate measurements of vigorous-intensity stepping activity. The BC better characterizes higher intensity stepping activity, which could have important implications for assessing participants’ true habitual stepping activity levels.  相似文献
